Biographical data
With a Doctorate in History and 30 years as a hands-on educator, I currently teach at Spiritus Sanctus in Brig and serve as Assistant Director of the Boarding School. I live in Martigny with my wife, Gabrielle, who is a nurse at Martigny Hospital. We are the parents of Romain, a student at EPFL, and Julien, a student at the UNIL.
I am the Vice-President of SCIV_Le Syndicat, the leading trade union organisation in Valais. We also advocate at the Swiss level for the extension of collective bargaining agreements.
As Vice-President of the Foundation Board of Oeuvre Saint-Justin, which oversees student residences in French-speaking Switzerland (including one in Geneva) and German-speaking Switzerland, I am well-versed in the management of a foundation board.
What does Ecolint mean to you?
A century-old institution with consistently innovative pedagogy, underpinned by a tradition of peace and an unwavering commitment to working towards a better world.
What skills/expertise would you bring to the Governing Board?
- Governance
- Financial management and oversight
- Strong relationships with the local community
How would you support the mission of the Foundation if you are elected to the Governing Board? Emphasizing the skills/expertise that were highlighted in the previous question, and other leadership and soft skills you would bring to the Board.
I would like to strengthen and cultivate relationships with the international organisations based in Geneva.
Promoting Ecolint’s philosophy at both the local and international levels is of paramount importance to me. I am already actively engaged in this through my research, having organised the inaugural symposium on Ecolint’s history and participated in the creation of Rue Marie-Thérèse Maurette.
I believe in the crucial presence of educators on the Foundation Board to better connect the governing bodies with the people on the ground.
I will leverage my expertise in foundation management as well as my national network to encourage excellence in education at Ecolint, and to enhance working conditions for staff to enable students to pursue their studies at the world’s leading universities.
