Early Years Support Assistant - PED 1 Level for our Pre-Reception classes

Full-time - 25 hours 

 

Responsibilities :

  • This role is essential in ensuring that every student receives the support they need for their well-being and safety.
  • The assistant supports teachers in delivering high-quality education by assisting with student supervision, and individualized support. 
  • Actively promote the French and/or English language as required by the school throughout the educational program.
  • Provide comfort and reassurance to students who need comforting.
  • Assist students with daily routines, including dressing, undressing, washing hands, using the toilet, eating meals, and settling down for naptime.
  • Support students with hygiene needs, including washing and changing when necessary.
  • Attend to minor injuries and provide basic first aid.
  • Help with classroom organization, including storing materials (paint, brushes, paper, etc.) and preparing learning spaces.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, lunch, outdoor play, transitions, and other school activities.
  • Accompany students on group outings and ensure their safety.
  • Ensure cleanliness and hygiene by routinely cleaning equipment, toys, and learning spaces in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Assist in classroom preparation, including organizing materials and helping maintain an engaging and structured environment.
  • Encourage student independence, fostering social skills, self-regulation, and positive behavior.
  • Support the promotion of a respectful and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with teachers, assistants, and staff to support student well-being and learning.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all school policies and procedures.
     

Personal Requirements:

  • Qualifications and/or experience in Education is preferred, as well as 2 to 3 years of experience working with early age students.
  • High school diploma.
  • Experience working with children in a school or similar setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting student growth.
  • A valid background check as required by school policies
  • Ability to work collaboratively and under the direction of the classroom teacher and the whole team.
  • French language is a requirement as well as good proficiency in English.
