Children at Ecolint: Campus des Nations Primary and Secondary
My name is Nirmalya Syam. I am honored to seek re-election to the Ecolint Governing Board, where I have been serving as a member since 2023 and currently hold the position of Board Secretary. Prior to this, I was actively involved in the school community as a member of the Campus des Nations Advisory Body (CAB) from 2020 to 2023, serving as its Chair in 2022-23.
Professionally, I work at an intergovernmental organization in Geneva, specializing in intellectual property, public health, and development. As a lawyer with a specialization in international law, I bring a deep understanding of governance, policy, and legal frameworks. My previous experience includes working in the banking sector as well as representing school management and teachers in legal proceedings in India.
As a parent of two children at Ecolint’s Campus des Nations (currently in Year 1 and Year 8), I am deeply committed to the school's values and the well-being of our students, staff, and community. My focus remains on fostering a strong governance structure, ensuring transparency, and supporting policies that enhance Ecolint’s academic excellence and inclusive ethos.
I look forward to the opportunity to continue contributing to the school’s mission and serving our diverse community with dedication and integrity.
What does Ecolint mean to you?
Ecolint represents more than just a school to me—it is a community built on the values of inclusivity, diversity, and global citizenship. As a parent, I see Ecolint as a nurturing environment where my children are encouraged to think critically, embrace different perspectives, and grow into compassionate individuals. As a Board member, I see it as an institution that upholds a commitment to academic excellence while fostering a culture of respect and collaboration.
This centenary year is a historic milestone, celebrating 100 years of Ecolint’s leadership in international education. The centenary celebrations have been a testament to the school’s rich legacy, bringing the community together to reflect on its achievements and future aspirations. The events and initiatives marking this occasion have highlighted Ecolint’s lasting impact on generations of students and its continued dedication to fostering peace, understanding, and global engagement.
Additionally, I greatly appreciate Ecolint’s ongoing guest speaker series, which provides students with invaluable opportunities to engage with eminent figures, including Nobel laureates, sports personalities, and political leaders. These interactions inspire students, broaden their perspectives, and reinforce Ecolint’s commitment to holistic education beyond the classroom.
Being part of Ecolint is both a privilege and a responsibility. My involvement in the Governing Board and the Campus des Nations Advisory Body has allowed me to contribute to the school’s governance, ensuring transparency, inclusivity, and long-term sustainability.
For me, Ecolint is not just an institution—it is a vision for a better future, one that I am proud to support and serve.
